“People are born so they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” The four-year-old continued, “Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”
Today we mourn the lost of a very dear friend, Cody.
I’ve never own a dog before, but i know the feeling of losing someone dear, someone close, or someone who is your friend.
I’ve never met Cody before but i got to know him from all the stories that Chunky told me, pictures and videos from insta and accounts from people who have met this special pup. And of course i grew to like him even before i met him and was truly waiting for the day i could meet him. But i never got a chance..
In this one year, i had 3 friends who had to deal with the loss of their furry friend. Snoopy, the pup of diane and daphne, and Cody. These 2 dogs really amazed me with the love they showed their families; the care and affection they display even surpass that of humans, and other dogs that i know, like i’ve never ever seen or heard bout dogs quite like them. That’s why my heart ached and i choked up upon hearing their passing. And usually in this kind of situation, i really dunno how to comfort my friends. Because really, what they lost is not just a pet, but a friend, a family. I fear things i say may sound intruding or forced, but i too grieve for their loss. But it’s from these 2 families that i learn about the bond a dog and their family can share.
I hope for most of you out there who still have your furry friends with you, don’t take them for granted. Because all they know in life is to love. Don’t neglect them. don’t ignore them, treat them as how you would treat your children. And don’t forget to let them know that you love them too. Because you’ll never know. they will just slip away and you’re left with nothing bout emptiness and regret.
And for those of you who share the loss of your special friend; I believe dogs share the same sentiment of a dying friend/kin, to not wanna see his love ones be sadden and grieving for them. It will most probably be their dying wish to see that their friend will learn to be happy even when they’re not around. So stay strong and wipe away those tears because don’t make them worry as they watch over you from the rainbow bridge.
Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole. Keep those memories close to your heart.
